Our Story

Our name, “Roggenart”, literally means “the art of rye” in German, a testament to our dedication to traditional craftsmanship and the simple, high-quality ingredients that form the heart of our creations.

Founded in June 2017 by Neman Popov, Roggenart was born from a passion for European café culture and a desire to create a “feel-good place” where guests could savor artisanal treats in a cozy, inviting atmosphere. We pride ourselves on baking everything from scratch daily, in small batches, ensuring unparalleled freshness and flavor.

 Hampstead’s story is one of growth and connection. Founded on lands once called “Spring Garden,” the town began as a vital stage-line stop on an early road connecting Baltimore to Pennsylvania. Its development was further propelled by the arrival of the Western Maryland Railroad in 1879 , which transformed it from a farming community into a bustling hub of commerce. This history of bringing people together for travel and trade is something that deeply resonates with us.
