Our Story

Our name, “Roggenart”, literally means “the art of rye” in German, a testament to our dedication to traditional craftsmanship and the simple, high-quality ingredients that form the heart of our creations.

Founded in June 2017 by Neman Popov, Roggenart was born from a passion for European café culture and a desire to create a “feel-good place” where guests could savor artisanal treats in a cozy, inviting atmosphere. We pride ourselves on baking everything from scratch daily, in small batches, ensuring unparalleled freshness and flavor.

Baltimore’s history as a major port and transportation hub, from its founding in 1729 to the establishment of the nation’s first railroad, is a testament to its resilience and forward-thinking spirit. Just as Baltimore’s Inner Harbor has been a gathering place for centuries, we hope our bakery will become a new spot for the community to come together.
