New Café brings creative pastries and baked goods to the community.
HAMPSTEAD, MD – September 24, 2025 – Hampstead just got flakier. Roggenart European Bakery, Bistro and Café will hold its grand opening on Friday, September 26, 2025, at 10:30 a.m.. Located at 903 S. Main St., Hampstead, MD 21074, the new café promises to bring an authentic European café experience to town.
Owners Neman Popov and Brody Tennant will be joined by local community leaders—including Carroll County Commissioner Ken Kiler, Hampstead Mayor Chris Nevin, and Hampstead Councilmember Deborah Painter—to break a ceremonial croissant. The event will also feature the unveiling of Maryland’s Largest Pumpkin Spice Latte, holding 2.36 gallons (303 fl oz).
Roggenart’s Hampstead location is designed to be a charming European escape, featuring European-styled furniture, free books to peruse, outdoor seating, and ambient music. The bakery and bistro feature a full menu of authentic European baked goods made daily from scratch. The menu includes a variety of vegetarian options, such as croissants, salads, omelets, and artisan sandwiches. The café will also serve the company’s recently launched all-day brunch menu, now available at all its D.C., Maryland, and Virginia locations.
The company’s reputation for excellence extends to its trend-setting “Crookie”—a croissant baked with cookie dough inside—which has garnered widespread popularity nationwide.
“Hampstead’s vibrant, welcoming atmosphere made it the perfect choice for Roggenart,” said Neman Popov, Founder and CEO. “Our guests will enjoy the kind of European experience we’re known for—freshly baked pastries, gourmet sandwiches, and a brunch menu that brings people to the table”.
“We are honored to bring Roggenart to Hampstead, a community that values family, tradition, and connection,” said Brody Tennant, CEO of Roggenart. “Our cafés are designed to be more than just a cafe—Roggenart is a welcoming space where families can gather and lasting memories are created. We look forward to contributing to the town’s strong sense of community”.
Headquartered in Howard County, Maryland, the first U.S. Roggenart bakery opened in 2017. Popov and Tennant partnered in 2020, and over the last five years, they have used their decades of business experience to expand the brand. The Hampstead location joins existing locations in Baltimore, Columbia, Ellicott City, Savage Mill, Frederick, and Towson in Maryland; Arlington and Reston in Virginia; and two locations in Chicago. The company also plans to open a new location in Catonsville, Maryland, in the coming months.
The Hampstead location will be open daily from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m..
